The education in Armenian and Caucasus studies' program:

Currently we propose only Bachelor's degree program. The education in the Bachelor’s degree program lasts four years (8 terms) and includes compulsory, elective and optional subjects and courses. The admission and the selection are made after passing an exam, according to the common requirements of Sofia University. The degree is graduated after passing a written and an oral state exam.

Curriculum and ECTS- credits

The curriculum and the ECTS-credits are in compliance with the requirements of the European Union for students exchange and for continuing the education in an educational institution in abroad.

Grants and specialization opportunities

Every year two students have the right of a specialization in Armenia, as the year spent there is recognised by Sofia University as regular. The grants and the stay there are covered by Armenia.

Every year the World Armenian benevolent organization “Parekordzagan" gives grants for the best students of the specialty as a stimulus and recognition of their work.

Complementary education opportunities

After graduating ˛ course the students of the specialty “Armenian and Caucasus studies” can enrol within the Centre of Eastern languages and cultures second Eastern language (Arabian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Hindi, Turkish). The learning lasts 2 years or in general 4 terms and after the successful passing the exams, the students obtain the relevant diploma.

The specialty "Armenian and Caucasus studies” offers the opportunity of Western or Russian language learning within Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski”. The learning lasts 2 years or in general 4 terms, and after the successful passing of the exams the students obtain the relevant diploma.

After the graduation of II course program, the students of the specialty “Armenian and Caucasus studies" have the exclusive right to enrol in whatever second specialty they want within Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski”.

Master’s degree program

According to the acting at the moment Rules of Procedure for the activity of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” after graduation of the Bachelor's degree in the specialty, the students can continue their education in a range of Master's degree on their choice, offered within the University, such as: International relations, International economic relations, Sociology, Politology and etc. They are entitled to enrol in more then one Master’s degree.

Postgraduate qualification

The specialty "Armenian and Caucasus studies” offers the opportunity for a PhD within the specialty or another specialty within Sofia University after the announcement of a competition.

Professional realization opportunities of graduated students:

1. as Translators or Interpreters

2. as Teachers in the secondary or higher education institution (in Bulgaria or in abroad)

3. as Journalists in the press or electronic medias

4. within Ministry of Internal affairs or other state institutions or establishments ( in which there is lack of specialists on Caucasus related matters).
